If you are a natural-born animal lover, sometimes it is hard to resist the desire of going up to every single dog or cat to pet them and spend a few moments. A lot of animal lovers have even confessed that they prefer to be in the presence of animals over people, and for good reason. Animals offer us unconditional love that is completely free of judgement. They don’t talk back to us and they sure as heck don’t try to control us and tell us what we should or shouldn’t do with our lives. The word “acceptance” comes to mind when discussing the love and companionship that animals offer us.
Dogs are known as “man’s best friend,” because of the way they accept us for who we are and for the simple fact that they are always happy to see us.
One little boy was torn between right and wrong when he fell under the spell of animal love. Josh Breaux of Pierre Part, Louisiana was drawn to his neighbor’s dog Duchess, who is a friendly black Labrador Retriever. Josh didn’t have a dog of his own, which may be why he felt compelled to spend some time with Duchess. So, he committed a crime out of love…he snuck into his neighbor’s garage to play with the pup and give him lots of love and attention.
The home owners nor Josh’s parents, didn’t notice the friendship that was going on between the dog and the boy until the security footage was viewed. And instead of being upset that Josh was sneaking into her garage, the home owner, Hollie Mallet, thought the bond was adorable and she invited him over to play with the dog anytime he wanted.
Mallet found the video so sweet that she posted it on Facebook and it received 66 million views in no time.
“Josh talks about your dog all the time! Every time we pass he looks to see if she was sitting where he could see her. Just didn’t know he was doing things like this. Last night when I first saw it, I was torn as a momma being happy and upset because he knows he shouldn’t be on someone’s property, but I wake up this morning more happy that he just absolutely adores dogs so much,” said Josh’s mom, Ginger Breaux, who has yet to give in to getting Josh a dog because he is already so busy with baseball and school.
Evidently, the Breaux family had recently lost a pet of their own and Duchess was filling the void for Josh. Mallet is perfectly fine with Josh spending time with Duchess in the meantime.
“It’s been a great experience for everybody, and now the boy regularly visits his canine friend to play with her,” said Mallet. “When we saw the views, it’s surreal. It’s a positive story and I’m so glad I was able to capture it on camera. It is just pure innocence and we’re so glad to have made a friend.”
In the video, you can witness nine-year-old Josh, approach the garage on his bike. He then runs into the garage, hugs the dog quickly and runs back out and takes off on his bike.
Viewers are so enamored by the sweet story, that they have even offered gifting him with his own dog.
